edited September 2016Installed the update and it still doesn't work!
I fear it's been bricked by that stupid xbox accessories app
Update: After trying several time to update it on my pc. I connected my controller to another pc that didn't have the anniversary update and not many apps installed. Managed to get the accessory app to see the controller and continue the firmware update. After that it now seems to see it on my oculus pc. -
i will wait untill every one says its ok to install thanks

I've tried KB3176938 on both desktop and laptop. The controller doesn't work on either. I had to uninstallre-install KB3176938 on both machines before it was showing up in update history ( for whatever that's worth..)

Confirmed Xbox One controller working perfectly on my end after the update
-
Marvellous!!
No probs with the Xboxie now.
Was before but FIXED now. Yay.
Great work, everyone associated.
-
Update: Seems my Xbox one controller only wants to work sometimes now.

edited September 2016Count me among the people who, after reverting to build 14393 (I had to temporarily reject Insider builds) I finally got working controllers.

That's weird that some are still having probs. I guess it's now mainly an individual fault.
It appears to be working beautifully for the majority of us since the OP's announcement.
Not many grumbles about it anymore.?

My wireless adapter won't even light up. The computer recognizes something is plugged into the USB port, but there is no other response.

@GameTeacher that may be a hardware defect. The light should at least come on.AMD Ryzen 7 1800X | MSI X370 Titanium | G.Skill 16GB DDR4 3200 | EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 | Corsair Hydro H110i

Came here to remark as well, that after applying the latest W10 patches (Winver 14393.105) problems seem to be gone. I don't need to toggle on/off the controller anymore. Apps that didn't work with this workaround (mountain goat) have no more problems.
@GameTeacher: That rather sounds like a driver issue to me. I had this as well. Contrary to common believe W10 does not (always) seem to have the drivers 4 the controller built in/cannot autodetect. You might try to install the xbox accessory app from the w10 store. It can also do firmware upgrades to the controller, if this does not help: I did not get the hint on the app first, but searching hardly (very, actually) I found hints and links to the M$ download site where to get the right driver. I think it was in a steam support forum.

I usually grizzle and grumble about Oculus. But wowie since the update or fix or whatever the CV1 and it's peripherials are quite remarkable indeed.
Has something also been done about the red tint as well?
Curses, I hardly see at all now. Can't grumble anymore. Oh dear.
Many thanks to all over there for the fine patient work!

Xbox one controller will not sync after using the rift after several months. Validated it has the MS update KB3176938 and still no luck. Tried other controllers with the same issue.

Win 10 v3199986 and can not get controller to work. Been playing Elite Dangerous with a hotas so didn't know I was having problems till I decided to play something else. It either won't link or it will link for a couple seconds and then shut off.
-
Same problem here. Connects for about a second then shuts off. Tried unplugging and reinserting the adapter, and also resyncing the controller, but the problem persists.
Its my second adapter also. The first one I received with the CV1 was defective and never powered on, so I replaced it. That's been my experience with most Microsoft hardware. -
Could only get my controller to work once in Knee Deep. Works fine in the Rift home screen. Usually to get it to work I re-pair it, sometimes having to pull the battery. No matter this is broke and needs get right.
-
so for me this problem persists but it is not as bad as before. the controller works fine.. until it goes into sleep mode and shuts down. once this happens it wont work again untill after a reboot.
for most games its not an issue for me, sadly i mostly use my VR HMD for elite dangerous, and i only use the pad on elite when i am in an SRV.. which means there are long periods of not using it, therefore the pad DOES turn off.
oh well..
if i remember i have to keep touching the pad, if i forget, on landing on a planet i have to reboot my pc. not ideal i must admit but is usable. i may go back to my xbox 360 pad.
Fiat Coupe, gone. 350Z gone. Dirty nappies, no sleep & practical transport incoming. Thank goodness for VR -
edited November 2016My controller was fine when I first got the Rift but I've also been having the same problem for weeks now. I often pause a game to do something else, come back and of course it has auto turned off, but as you say it just will not reconnect unless I shut down the game and Oculus Home and reboot it all, obviously losing any progress I made in the game.
Can't find any solution, very irritating. -

No, No it is not solved! This should be a bit embarrassing to Oculus, you should be leaning on Microsoft to fix this if indeed is isn't something you should be fixing. It reflects poorly on a product you market as refined.
Someone please fix this! To be as unambiguous as possible I am referring to the xbox one controller sleep bug in which once the controller goes to sleep while the Oculus service(OVRService if I recall) is running then it will not connect again until the Oculus service is restarted.

edited March 2018Just out-of-curiosity, did you make sure your controller is set as the 'preferred device' in Windows?
Some games sometimes won't fully recognize a controller if it was notset that way on Windows, even though the same controller in the samesystem can be used without issues in most games.
If you can't find that under Windows 10, follow this other guide untilyou see the screenshot with the window that has the buttons
Edit: If you have a wireless controller with a plug and play cable thecable only recharges the controller it won't recieve or transmitanything between xi and the controller. I'm using a standard 360 wiredcontroller.
